Congratulations to the Department of Finance for gaining Healthier Work Recognition XL Status!! With a staffing group of approximately 1400, it is always going to be complex to roll out a staff health and wellbeing plan. The Department of Finance regularly consult with staff on the Work, Health and Safety Committee and Health and Safety Representatives to get a lay of the land on the ground within different sections of the organisation. This way they are able to provide activities and strategies that are relevant to staff within different areas. Education and awareness is a large part of their health and wellbeing plan, and they have even launched training for Mental Health Advisers across the organisation to be there to support and guide staff to resources or assistance. Other activities include a Department-wide Steptember challenge, mindfulness sessions, a smoke-free workplace policy, flu vaccinations and suicide awareness workshops.
